Ronald Cruz, Ranked No. 12 in the World By the IBF - From Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

This 25-year-old welterweight scored a 12-round decision over Prenice Brewer, of Cleveland, OH, winning the vacant WBC Continental Americas championship on June 1 in the Events Center at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. Earlier this year, Cruz scored a knockdown and out-pointed Allen Conyers, of the Bronx, NY, over 10 rounds at Bally's Atlantic City. Cruz (17-0, 12 K0s) stopped Anges Adjaho, of Buffalo, NY, in five rounds Nov. 19, 2011, at Bally's, which capped a 5-0 knockout run for Cruz in 2011. He K0d Dillet Frederick, of Ft. Myers, FL, Manuel Guzman and Doel Carrasquillo, both of Lancaster, PA, and Chris Fernandez, of Salt Lake City, UT, in addition to Adjaho. Cruz boxed three times in Atlantic City, once in Philadelphia and once when he headlined a soldout card in a temporary tent at the Sands in his Bethlehem (PA) hometown. Ranked No. 12 in the world by the IBF, Cruz won 25 out of 28 amateur fights in a 13-month period from July, 2007, until August, 2008. He is managed by Jimmy Deoria and trained by Lemuel Rodriguez.
